Grilled Cheese

This sandwich may be more familiar to us this side of the pond as a cheese toastie. I do love the American term grilled cheese so have decided to go with that as the title. This is without question one of the most made sandwiches in my house and one of the most comforting.

Grilled cheese
Yields1 Serving
 4 slices of thick white bread
 2 tbsp soft butter
 4 slices cheddar cheese
 2 slices gouda

Butter one side of each of the slices of bread. Place 2 slices into a large pan , preferably a cast iron pan, butter side down. Stack the cheese on top of the bread cheddar, gouda, cheddar. Sandwich together with the other 2 slices of bread, butter side up.

Cook for 2 -3 minutes a side until toasted and golden brown and cheese within is melted. Cut each sandwich in half and enjoy.
